Social Partnership Counseling: Being Alone is a Health Risk
March 21, 2024Specialized Trauma Counseling: EMDR
March 21, 2024On Sundays, Walking Therapy at the Beach is provided in Lincoln City, OR.
Walking Therapy takes place outdoors and involves partnering with nature as an aid in developing mental wellness.
With Walking Therapy, we engage your life needs, just like being in an office or via telehealth, and we get the added benefits of motion, sensory experiences & time in nature. Many individuals find that walking while talking makes the therapy process feel less formal and more approachable.
We walk on level sand at the beach along the water’s edge. If wind is high, an alternate location in Lincoln City will be used near Siletz Bay that is protected by trees and yet which involves essentially no incline nor decline hiking.
Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy, or MBCT, is designed for people who suffer from repeated bouts of depression or chronic unhappiness. It combines the ideas of cognitive therapy with meditative practices and attitudes based on the cultivation of mindfulness.
Recent research has shown that people who have been clinically depressed three or more times in their life find that learning mindfulness-based skills help to considerably reduce their chances of depression returning.
What does MBCT help treat?
- Depression and anxiety
- Food and eating issues
- Low mood and negative thoughts
- Body sensations such as weariness and sluggishness
- Psychosis
If you can relate to any of the above issues, mindfulness-based therapy may be right for you. MBCT helps people separate themselves from their thoughts and moods, and teaches them how to recognize their sense of being. It also aims to give participants the necessary tools to combat depressive symptoms as they arise.
Evidence indicates that mindfulness-based therapy may reduce the rate of depressive relapse by 50%.
If you or someone you know may benefit from mindfulness-based therapy, please contact me today for a free consultation. I am happy to speak with you about how I may be able to help you.
