I’ve experienced despair, hope, loss, and joy, hope & vitality in life.

Working with persons with mental health needs for the past number of years, my life’s work includes over three decades of University work, academic advising, research and teaching internationally, volunteerism, various certifications, experiences in hospitals, hospice, recovery groups, religious settings, jails, forensic work, and international work within indigenous cultural settings.

My work involves persons with severe and persistent mental health issues who may be experiencing major disruptions in housing or legal needs alongside work I also engage with accomplished professionals who work as doctors, lawyers, wealth-fund managers, entrepreneurs, laboratory specialists or technology experts.

I have specialized training as a Professional Life Master Coach and University Certification as a Peace & Conflict Negotiator and Certification in Leadership Education.

My primary means of caring for people involving helping people work toward solutions for their existence by understanding how to accept their life while shifting toward new commitments aligned to their primary values.

In order to best help persons in need, I continually study, research & receive new training.

I have been certified a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and as a Certified Addictions-Informed Mental Health Professional (CAIMHP) and as an Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDCS).

I’ve been trained by the International Association with oversight for Eye-Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing to provide EMDR Therapy.

I am Gottman Institute Trained Level 1 & Level 2 Certified Couples Therapist.  I serve as a Facilitator for Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples.  And I have clinical practice training for Social & Emotional Learning.

I’ve been awarded International and National fellowships and research grants.

As we professionally partner together, my work is to help you process where you’ve been, who you are, and how you can move toward your authentically better future.

I am licensed to work independently in the States of Colorado, Idaho and Washington and my work in Oregon is facilitated under the supervision of the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors & Therapists, with direct Supervision by Zoe Pearson, LPC C1026, NCC 34422 and Denise Pierson, LPC C3333.

My Background

With my life partner, we’ve raised three children into their adult years & we grieved the loss of a fourth child. Each of our children has had unique experiences that have helped us discern the complexity, compassion, and care needed in parenting.

Our children, friends, and the thousands of University students I’ve taught in the classroom have helped me to discern differences among human persons and I celebrate the beauty of diversity.

We have lived on several continents; with cultural, ethnic, religious, indigenous, family, and gender diversity.

I’ve received teaching awards as a University Professor, and I am an author and public speaker working to help the world move toward more peace and flourishing.

I’ve served persons in other countries on other continents, have advocated for diplomacy in NYC at the United Nations, with Congressional Leaders and PACs in Washington D.C. and have been on Civic Boards for municipalities and currently serve as an Oregon State Public Official.
